Official Opening of the Renovated European Innovation Centre Cargill

On March, 13th 2014 the renovated state-of-the-art test facilities of the Cargill European Innovation Centre in Vilvoorde were inaugurated in the presence of the Prime-Minister Kris Peeters, Jean Simons, Cis Van Doninck and Frank van Lierde.

In April 2012 Cargill announced an 8 million euro renovation project in its European Innovation Centre in Vilvoorde. In order to meet the future expectations of its customers, Cargill decided to expand its R&D capacity and to further develop the centre in line with the highest technological norms and regulations in the field of Food Safety.

The project comprises the renovation of the pilot production plant, including its laboratories and office functions. A covered gangway was realized between the existing laboratory building and the new pilot plant in which the clean rooms were incorporated. The central technical functions were centralized in a separate part of the existing building. While defining and elaborating the project the most current concepts and regulations in the field of Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) were taken into account.

Project management and the technical equipment and clean rooms study were done by CRC Engineering, architecture by signum+ architects and structures by Technum.
