The project involves the construction of two new shelters as a covered unloading area for trucks, to supply the assembly lines at the Volvo Car Ghent site on John Kennedylaan.

The most important preconditions were:

• continuity of production during construction work;
• phasing shelter GC08 with continuity of logistics activities;
• the short-term planning.

Shelter GC08 is conceived as a closed building, with fast-rolling gates in the façade and awning, in order to form an interlocking function between the existing factory and the assembly lines.

Shelter LC1 is an open shelter with a continuous ventilation cap in the ridge because of the presence of a high-pressure earth pipeline under the extension.
