The building site is located along part, Einde Were, of the small ring road (R40) in Ghent, on the bank of an arm of the river Leie. The existing lay-out of the firm Van Marcke was located at the back of this location (Overzet).

Simple main forms, a logical concrete structure with – industrial – larger spans for the show room and warehouse volumes immediately under the roof, a composition of industrial outer wall materials, parament work, curtain walls with horizontal accentuation, zinc were chosen.
The side wall facing the river Leie, was right from the start conceived in such a way that a sober but interesting whole invites the passers-by along the small ring road to have a look inside…
The levels of the different building layers are carefully planned out in order to let the level, restricted at the back by the street level, run up to the front as technical rooms under the floor of the show room at the street side, which is located on an only just acceptable “higher” level compared to the street level.

The circulation plan is kept very simple and transparent, with an eccentrical main stair case which connects all levels and realizes the connection between the visitor car park and the entrance to the show room.
